Fiji Property

4314 Sofitel Fiji Resort Spa 300x179 Fiji Property

Buying a Fiji property does not solely lie on the thought that you are investing your money on a long term basis. The new move clearly suggests that you now have an estate on a foreign land. By that, you can have the opportunity to build a house overseas and make profit by turning it into an apartment for tourists to temporarily lodge, for example. You actually have plenty of alternatives for a huge return on the amount you poured.

* Doing a lot of assignments is your initial step in acquiring a Fiji property. Make an extensive research on the foreign land especially that the country is not your native place. Have more than a dose of knowledge on the constitutional laws so you will know your limitations as well as what are those that are permitted by the government. A wise action would be to ask a person living in that region to help you out.

* Working out on your budget will never be missed out in obtaining a Fiji property. If you happen to be as lavish as the Sultan of Brunei who bought more than ten Mercedes Benz in one sitting, definitely you would not be minding on how much you will be spending. However, if you consider yourself a commoner who has financial restrictions, then this case should never be ruled out in your plans.

* Inquire an expert when you are out to purchase a Fiji Property. It is regarded important that you seek the advice of an independent real estate agent because there are unmistakably several things to regard such as the currency exchange, assessments to be accomplished by the surveyor, transactions with bank transfers, instability of the boarding market and tax payments, to enumerate a few. The more it will be headache if you will choose to go on a solo flight in finishing all the processes.

* Studying the interest should also be one of your focus in getting a Fiji property. This is because the rate of having an international estate has increased over the past five years. One of the reasons are television programs that have made several people realize that owning assets abroad is not just for the A- list Hollywood celebrities but are even catered to individuals who just wants to create more out of their earnings.

With all that were mentioned, are you now settled in procuring a Fiji property? A lot of goods available are waiting to be called your very own.

Nothing Like the Ovalau You Know

ovalaum24b 300x224 Nothing Like the Ovalau You KnowThe reclusive island of Ovalau still has touches of the era when Fiji was a British colony. It stands apart from the other islands of Fiji in that it’s not known for beautiful beaches and stunning resorts. Instead, it’s the sense of history in the Brits still here and the promise of the future in the island’s young people that make Ovalau worth the journey.

ISLANDS contributing editor David Lansing recently returned from Ovalau, writing about it as a new “secret island.” As he recounts from his stay in the old colonial capital of Levuka: “Just past the church, I saw a young man taking the family pig for a stroll. The man asked where I was from, and when I said Los Angeles, he looked at me blankly. Most people on Ovalau have never been to another Fijian island, let alone California.

As if to prove its isolated status, he took me to a spot across from the post office where there used to be a roost for carrier pigeons that delivered mail to Suva, about 40 miles away. He said, ‘My grandfather sent love letters to my grandmother that way. Took less than an hour to get a reply.’” Read the full story.

Fiji Islands

fiji travel 300x199 Fiji IslandsThe Fiji islands are comprised of more than three-hundred islands, where one-hundred six of which are permanently inhabited. Fiji is split into two main sections; the first division comprises Viti Levu, which takes in the regions of Suva, Rakiraki, Nadi, Coral Coast, and the small ‘off the coast’ Mamanuca Islands, and the second slice consists of the neighboring islands of Kadavu, Ovalau, Taveuni, Vanua Levu, and the Yasawa Group.

Viti Levu (Nadi, Rakiraki, Coral Coast, and Suva) One of the biggest of the Fiji islands, Viti Levu is the abode of seventy percent of the total population, and is the center of the whole archipelago. It measures approximately one-hundred-forty-six kilometers long and one-hundred-six kilometers wide, with a 10,389 square-kilometer area.

Proportionate to the size of the island is its significance, with its lush rover valleys that support the thickest population hubs of the country, as well as its wide sugar lands lying on its northern and western coasts. Dairy farms, gold mines, light manufacturing, and most importantly, its tourism industry, have a say to the country’s wealth. Additionally, the island of Viti Levu is the core of sea and air communications in Southwestern Pacific.

Kadavu One of the islands that comprise the second sector of the Fiji islands, Kadavu has about eight-thousand-seven hundred in population, and lies just eighty-eight kilometers on Suva’s south. The island has a number of high mountains and countless steep cliffs; for short, the island is rugged with a small number of roads, making taxis the main method of transportation. Its airport, new hospital, and government station is found on the island’s eastern end, in Vunisea village. Travelers should keep in mind that Kadavu resorts are nowhere near its airstrip, so one needs to met and ferried via a small craft to their destination.

Ovalau This is one of the Fiji islands, which is the main island of the Lomaiviti group; it is situated off the shores of eastern Viti Levu. The island is of volcanic origin, and is elevated, rugged, and enclosed with thick vegetation. The major attraction is its colonial capital, Levuka. Levuka is a community with about 1500 inhabitants; the place has the atmosphere of a 19th century whaling city.

Taveuni This island is considered the garden of the Fiji islands, with its wet, rugged, green, and pristine landscape. The island lies just seven kilometers off Vanua Levu’s southeast coast. Taveuni is a classic stunning tropical island, dense with vegetation, as well as magnificent tropical flowers.

All other Fiji islands have their own diverse and unique qualities that make a visit to every single one of them, seem like a whole new experience every time. In the Fiji islands, there’s nothing greater than to encounter the remarkable traditional life of the Fijians and their varied cultures.

Ovalau Island- Fiji

clip image003 002 300x225 Ovalau Island Fiji levukapeak 300x207 Ovalau Island Fiji

Ovalau (pronounced O-vah-lau) is the principal island of the Lomaiviti group. Only 13 kilometers long and 11 kilometers wide, it is located off the eastern coast of Viti Levu.Of volcanic origin, the island is high, rugged and covered with dense vegetation. Its primary attraction is the old colonial capital of Levuka, a community of 1500 or so inhabitants.

Nestled at the base of steep bluffs, Levuka has the ambience of a 19th century whaling town, which is exactly what it was. With weather-worn clapboard buildings, narrow streets, and ever-friendly residents, Levuka’s harbor and bars at one time welcomed vessels from every seafaring nation.

The feeling of the past is palpable in Levuka–so thick you can cut it with a knife, so dense it can be smothering. There are several good low end accommodations on the island and offshore. If you are even remotely interested in the colonial history of the South Pacific, Levuka is an attraction you should not miss. One can travel there via plane (a ten minute flight from Nausori Airport) or via ferry from Suva. Ê A few things to do: Have a beer at the Ovalau Club and drink in the colonial ambience. For good measure, walk down the street and have a nightcap at the Levuka Club. See the graveyard in town and feel the spirits of the past. In the other direction is the Cession Bure, so named because it were here that the Fiji Islands were ceded to Great Britain in 1874. If you have time, trek to Lovoni Village, which is located in the basin of an extinct volcano.

The whole Pacific area is too vast to cover in one simple article, so we’ve selected some of the best places to stay.

Where is it?

For the purposes of this guide, the Pacific refers to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia. There are thousands of islands scattered around this area of the Pacific and the Coral Sea, and many are largely unexplored by tourists.

Where can I stay?

Each of these countries is used to tourism and Australia and New Zealand in particular are not short of places to stay; from grand hotels to backpacker hostels. Europeans travelling to this part of the world usually stay for some time because of the long flights and because there’s so much to explore. Take the weight off your sight-seeing feet and choose to stay in one of the growing number of boutique hotels. Specifically designed for those who like to stay somewhere different on their travels, these hotels pay careful attention to design, detail and service, ensuring that your stay is comfortable and straightforward so that you can concentrate on the cities, landscapes and activities nearby. In Australia, try the Tower Lodge in the country’s Hunter Valley – internationally famous for its wine production. With just twelve rooms that are simply and elegantly furnished and designed for maximum comfort whatever the weather, a stay at Tower Lodge is the perfect start to an Australian tour. By contrast, try the luxury yachts that operate out of French Polynesia. A six or seven night cruise around these beautiful islands is refined by the number of spacious bedrooms – just 30 – and the addition of several sundeck levels, champagne breakfasts and on-land excursions designed to let you see the wonder of these islands at first hand.

What can I see?

You can’t possibly fit everything that this area has to offer into a couple of paragraphs, but all of the countries of the Pacific benefit from astonishing coastlines, unforgettable mountain, desert and forested areas, rich culture and an adventurous spirit. Whether you’re bungee-jumping in New Zealand, surfing in Australia, river kayaking in French Polynesia or enjoying the scuba diving in Fiji, you’re sure to want to return to the Pacific again to explore its delights.

How do I get around?

Transport varies from country to country. Australia and New Zealand are well served by airlines, so you can visit both countries in one trip, just move between New Zealand’s North and South islands, or take in as much of Australia as you can. It’s straightforward to hire cars in both countries and they operate public transport networks that are obviously cheaper and more regular in the cities than in rural areas. In Fiji, you can island hop by plane or, more cheaply and slowly, by ferry. Alternatively, there are reasonable bus services on the larger islands. French Polynesia is much the same, as are many of the other island groups in this part of the Pacific.

As more and more boutique hotels emerge to cater for travellers who appreciate design and service, the Pacific islands will feature in many more travel wish lists.
